I don’t know about you, but I get tired of picking up remotes and finding a place for them. I wanted some functional storage for them that also looked good.
I found this cutlery chest and knew that it would be ideal. At $3.99, if it didn’t work out, it was no great loss.
I sprayed it white after giving it a good sanding, but the stain bled through. Back to HD for some kilz primer and it did the trick.
I wasn’t sure what to put on it, but I for sure did not want it to be plain white. I pulled out my stencil that I created for my storage cube ottoman and cushion cover, and used that.
I then applied some stain and quickly wiped it off as I only wanted a hint of stain.
Now I have a place for remotes, candle lighter, coasters and what ever else I want to be put away when not in use.
I am having trouble lining the interior. I hate fussing with fiddly bits :)

ReplyDeleteSuper jealous! ; )
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - hopefully the remotes are always returned to the box though, eh (which goes all so well with your room too)!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! Especially with kids and tons of electronics!! Going to be on the lookout for something like this.
ReplyDeleteThat is so clever, and absolutely gorgeous as well! I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteMel- You are a genius!!! I've been wanting to do something similar...but haven't been able to find any boxes at gw....but I hadn't thought to check for a cutlery chest!!

It looks beautiful. What a pretty location for the remotes. Thanks for sharing at my Sizzle into summer party.
ReplyDeleteI love your little box. You really brought it back to life.
ReplyDeleteI just loved this idea. I will be featuring it tonight at my Fall into Fall (formerly sizzle into summer) party that opens tonight at 8pm EST. Please stop by and pick up an I've Been Featured button. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous!! I love the idea except my box is only 4" x 6" & I don't think remotes will fit... :(
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find that stencil or other like that!
ReplyDeleteNicey done!
